Anna Berthelot is originally from North Carolina but currently a resident of Addis and married mother of 3. This is her second year teaching Pre-K. She is currently working on her degree in Early Childhood Development and plans to finish soon. She was also a member of the LSU Color Guard with the Golden Band of Tiger Land and currently coaches the TCAL Color Guard. She is very active in her church and is currently the Director of Women's Ministry.
Mary Travasos is originally from Baton Rouge. She attended High School at Saint Joseph Academy, and afterwards attended LSU, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She has taught in both the private and public-school systems for more then 35 years, mostly working with the younger, early childhood ages, and with both Montessori and gifted students.
Ms. Travasos has been married to her husband Matthew for almost 19 years. And although they do not have children of their own, they are raising a “spoiled” 3-legged dog named Mr. Tibbs.
Polly Marlayna Verret Miller was born and raised in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Her husband, Eddie J. Miller, Jr., and she still live there. They have two grown daughters with families. She and her husband, Jim are members of First Baptist Church at Addis were Jim serves as a deacon and she works with AWANA.
She received her bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in teaching from Southeastern Louisiana University. Her certification is in regular and special education. Before becoming a teacher, she worked in the chemical industry in the accounting department. Her teaching career began at Crescent Elementary (where she was selected Teacher of the Year) and then at Math, Science, and Arts Academy West. While at Crescent, she taught first grade, and at MSA West taught second grade. Following her retirement from public school, she began teaching at TCAL.
Alexandra Furr is originally from Brusly, Louisiana but graduated from Central High School. There, she met her husband, Joe, and they were soon married. Together, they attended Louisiana State University. Mrs. Furr received her degree in Elementary Education in December of 2020. This is her first teaching job, but she loves working at the church she went to growing up!
Mrs. Tullier teaches fifth and sixth grades at TCAL. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University, is a native of Port Allen and a resident of Brusly. She is married to Steven and they have three daughters, Leigh (24), Blair (19), and Drew (15). She has been a teacher at TCAL since 2017 and loves it!
Brian Henson, a proud Gilmer (Texas) Buckeye, attended Baylor University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Texas teaching certificate. Mr. Henson spent nearly a decade as a middle school classroom teacher, with stints in Malakoff, Denison, and Waco Independent School Districts. After a brief return to Baylor, Mr. Henson earned his Master of Arts in Museum Studies and served as the Programs Manager/Educator at the Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute in Waco. Following a tour at the Methodist Children’s Home in Waxahachie, Texas, the Henson family moved to Brusly, where Mr. Henson joined the education staff at the Baton Rouge Zoo. Mr. Henson returned to the classroom with the opening of The Christian Academy of Louisiana in 2017.
Tammy Pearson is the wife of Gray Pearson and mom to four wonderful adult children. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in math, she taught for four years in the Texas public school system. Over the next 30 years Tammy used her educational skills in the local church, as a home-school mom, in various co-op classes, and for a national speech league. Teaching with delight is a phrase she would use to describe her current TCAL experience.
Adin Putnam is a Marine Corps Veteran and a graduate of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He earned his BA in History in 1980 and entered active duty. Raised in Oklahoma, he met his wife, Jean Putnam, while in Charleston. They were married in 1982, and are the parents of two grown children, and grandparents to 3 grandchildren. Captain Putnam joined the TCAL team in the fall of 2019 when the school opened the Upper School program as the “facilitator” for the Liberty University Online Academy program.
Alyssa Marino is originally from Plaquemine, LA, but now lives in Addis. She graduated from Brusly High School in 2014, going on to obtain her bachelor's degree in Theater / Performance from LSU. She owns "Alyssa's School of Performing Arts" in Brusly, LA where she teaches various forms of dance, theater, and voice lessons. She also spends her weekends as a hair and makeup artist and is the lead singer in a local band. She has been married to her husband Joel for two years and has "lots" of Fur-Babies
Originally from New Orleans, she attended LSU. She has been involved with Christian Education for over 30 years at CLF/CLA/The Church Academy in Baton Rouge and now at The Christian Academy of Louisiana. In addition to serving in many areas of the church and school, she has been director of CLF daycare and taught preschool at CLA for 15 years. She also worked as the bursar and then CFO at CLA/CLF. She worked for 2 years at TCABR as an administrative assistant and registrar. Laura joined the TCAL family last school year working in administration. She is excited to see all that God is doing here. She brings with her a deep desire for all children to know how much they are loved by God and called for a purpose.
Jean Putnam is a native of South Carolina where she graduated from Charleston Southern University. After graduation, she attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary graduating with her master’s degree. It was during these early days that she knew the importance of working alongside parents with their child’s education. She has served as children’s minister in churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Louisiana. She is married to Adin Putnam. They have 2 grown children, and 3 grandchildren.
